Week of Jan. 8-12

A weekly newsletter for the

Illing Middle School community.

Interim Principal Matt Geary and other administrators met with students last week to celebrate successes from the first part of the year and renew expectations for the next five months.

Among the successes mentioned: Making honor roll or being named
'student of the month', our Open Mic program, field trips, clubs and activities and mentoring. Reminders included: wearing uniforms, having your ID, behaving appropriately in the hallways while getting to class on time and respecting others' 'personal space.'
A Scheduling Note

When we have a snow day, we skip that day in our rotating schedule. For example, last Wednesday was an A Day, then we were 'snowed out' Thursday (which should have been a B Day) and Friday (which would have been a C Day), so this week goes D-A-B-C-D.

Carnation Sale

Valentine's Day is coming soon and we are making it easy to purchase a carnation for someone special. Click here for the details.
Enrichment Showcase Is Tuesday Night
Our Enrichment Showcase is Tuesday from 6-7 p.m. Seventh-graders chose topics having to do with Technology/Inventing, Community/Business, or Writing/Arts and eighth-graders explored a career that they may be interested in pursuing. Here are some photos taken in one of Ms. Gohla's class as they prepared last week:
From left are Syeanna Armstrong, Julia Snell, and Giovanna Shaw.
That's (from left) Olivia Saffery, Sylvia Squatrito, Summer Garrepy and Mackenzie Hall.
Finally we have Carolyn Miner, Alyssa Eisele, Nicholas Collazo, Brendan Norris, Wayne Neron, and William Slayton.

Don't forget about Box Tops for Education.
