Being across the street from the high school is convenient, and we took advantage on Friday by having our 'Students of the Month' breakfast in the Silk City Cafe, which is a beautiful student-run restaurant in the cooking hallway at MHS. Congrats to the students who were selected and thanks to students and staff at the high school for being such accommodating hosts.
That's (supposedly) what scientists say when they have a great idea or make a breakthrough -- the kind that come from participation in the district-wide Science Fair With Invention Convention. Early registration ends this week and here's everything that Illing students need to know including a timetable and resource list.
Mrs. Parker (assistant principal for grade 8) and Mr. Patel (grade 7) visited classrooms last week to surprise our 'Student of the Month' winners. Those chosen were allowed to select a favorite teacher to join them at their special breakfast. (The grade 8 breakfast was Friday and the grade 7 breakfast is scheduled for Monday.)
The photo above was taken at Friday's breakfast, which was prepared and served by MHS students.
STARS dollars featuring Ms. Okwauzi no longer have any value. (Sorry Ms. O, but don't worry --- we still love you!) Students who want to check their account balance can do so by clicking here.
Winter Concerts Just a Week Away
Students in our performing groups are getting ready for our winter concerts. The instrumental event is Tuesday, Dec. 12 and the choral production is Thursday, Dec. 14, both at MHS and both starting at 7 p.m.
Students in Mr. Burkhardt's science class used miniature catapults to propel small film canisters that were filled with different amounts of weight. Across the hall in Mr. Tracey's Social Studies class, students gave presentations connected to the Revolutionary War.
