MPS Is A Healthy Place To Be!
Spring is here and so is the district's second Wellness Initiative to support faculty and staff with their efforts to balance work/life, promote self-care, and a well-rounded healthy lifestyle. This past Fall, the Office of Performance, Evaluation and Talent Development teamed up with Human Resources to offer yoga classes, workshops on Holiday Survival, Work/Life Balance, Mood Food, Time Management and Stress Busters; and great discounts at local fitness centers.
This Spring, Vonetta Romeo-Rivers, Cindy Martinez and Terri Smith have yet again put their heads together to offer a variety of wellness initiatives to support our fabulous staff. This past Wednesday, a well-attended Zumba session was held at Waddell and facilitated by our very own Heather Elsinger. She is scheduled to host another on May, 11th. Salsa lessons will also be provided by Robertson teacher, Jason Pepin on May, 16th and 23rd.
We have 20 teams throughout the district participating in The Biggest Winner contest, which ends on June, 8th.
Wellness is as much about the mind as it is about the body. In addition to the above, we are also encouraging participation in Mindful Mondays during the month of May and 21 Days of Gratefulness contest open to every staff member in the district. The building with the most submissions of expressions of gratefulness will win freshly made smoothies a day in June. As of today, we have 68 submissions! Woohoo! Way to go MPS!
