‘The Wall That Heals’ Rolls Into Manchester
Students from Bennet Academy lined Main Street and waved flags as a truck carrying “The Wall That Heals” arrived Wednesday morning, escorted by a motorcycle caravan.
‘The Wall’ is a traveling memorial that pays tribute to the 2.7 million men and women who served our country in the Vietnam War. Almost 60,000 Americans died, including 14 people with ties to Manchester. It will be set up at Center Memorial Park, adjacent to Mary Cheney Library.
There will be an official opening ceremony Thursday at 10 a.m. and the memorial will be open 24 hours a day until Sunday, when closing ceremonies will be held at 2 p.m.
