Smarter Balanced Assessment in Manchester
Beginning in 2015-16, the Smarter Balanced Assessments have been administered statewide to students in Grades 3-8 in English language arts and math. The Smarter Balanced assessments are administered on computers and are designed to measure progress towards grade level skills through reading comprehension, writing and math questions that require students to demonstrate that they truly understand the content.
For Spring of 2018, Smarter Balanced Testing for all grade levels will take place from April 16th - May 4th
Please note: Traditionally, the Connecticut State Department of Education (CDSE) has assessed students in science through administration of the Connecticut Mastery Test (CMT) Science for grades 5 and 8 and the Connecticut Academic Performance Test (CAPT) Science for grade 10. During the 2018 school year, students in grade 5, 8 and 10 will take part in a pilot science test. District scores will not be provided for this assessment year. This testing will take place May 10th - May 24th
Greatschools.org has released a website to break down the CT Smarter Balanced test scores, along with strategies to help your child. Read more on "Understanding your Child's Smarter Balanced Test Scores."
