Architecture group's People's Choice Award goes to Highland Park

The renovation of Highland Park Elementary School was selected as the winner of the American Institute of Architects Connecticut Chapter's 2013 People's Choice Award.  Through a contest, that included more than 5,000 architects and residents, a statewide chapter of architects recognized the school for the town's unique efforts in renovating and preserving the building. "The building and property constructed in the 1920s and '60s were totally refurbished, creating 21st-century learning spaces, while providing all new systems for safety and the interior environment, and taking on  a useful life comparable to that of a new facility including 'high-performance' standards.
