We try to be flexible, not only offering a variety of programs that meet the needs of our community, but also looking for new places to hold our classes. This week, we are starting another session of ESL classes at 'satellite' locations including both the Pavilions Apartments and the new community center at Squire Village (where we also have GED classes). There's more information below and please contact me if you have creative ideas of how (or where) we can help you learn and reach your goals.

GED ... ABE ... CDP ... NEDP ... ESL
The abbreviations can be intimidating (or at least confusing) but we have teachers, tutors and counselors and others committed to helping adult learners find the right program, reach their academic goals and develop career plans. BTW (which stands for 'by the way'!) those abbreviations stand for:
  • General Educational Development (GED)
  • Adult Basic Education (ABE)
  • Adult High School Credit Diploma Program (CDP)
  • NEDP - National External Diploma Program
  • English as a Second Language (ESL) & Citizenship
Note: ABE involves academic skills through Grade 8, GED typically involves skills Grades 9-12, plus career awareness and job readiness skills and college prep, too. ... If you click here you can learn all about this.

MEET DAWN DIXON: Dawn is the department’s Business Secretary, and her many responsibilities handling budgets, enrolling students and so forth for both the Adult Ed division (credit diploma, GED etc.) and Continuing Ed.  She says the best part of her job is when people call in seeking a class -- and they say they were referred by a friend who already took the class and had a positive experience.
