The inaugural MHS steeple chase races were a hit -- and a splash.
A long time ago in Ireland, people raced on horseback from town to town using church steeples to stay on course as they jumped over stone walls and other obstacles and splashed through streams. That's the history of the 'steeple chase' -- which is now a running race and was a highlight of the Randy Smith/JI track meet over the weekend. We have lots of coverage below and a big week ahead as the spring season starts to reach its peak. Good luck to everyone and remember that effort and attitude are as important as wins and losses.
-- Athletic Director Lindsey Boutilier
Of Note

Saturday's meet included a moment of silence in memory of the late Barry "Big Mitch" Mitchell and was somber for many because of the tragic accident just hours earlier that killed an MHS student and two recent graduates. Please read Principal Jill Krieger's message in our MHS Digest.
Meet Highlights

Jevin Frett, above, is shown runnning away with his second meet record of the day in the 200m in a scorching 21.34 seconds.
