There are no classes this week but all of our spring sports teams will be in action -- with one of the highlights a track meet at home against Hartford Public on Tuesday. It was chilly Saturday morning when members of the track team held a fund-raising car wash at the high school (and they had to use the Freshman Center lot because of construction trucks in the front of the building) but things should be much nicer Tuesday, as the forecast calls for mostly sunny skies and the temperature in the high 70s. Looks like spring is finally here.
-- Athletic Director Lindsey Boutilier
Yesterday the track team car wash had to be moved because the front lot was torn up, but better weather and brighter days are coming.
This Week's Highlights:
The softball team is home against New Britain on Monday, the track team has HPHS at home Tuesday, the baseball team is home against Hall on Wednesday and the golf team has its first match on Thursday against Rockville at Twin Hills.
Baseball -- Coach Marc DiDominzio
Boys Golf -- Coach Jim Kelly
Girls Golf -- Coach Bob Healy
Softball -- Coach Danielle Leone
Boys Tennis -- Coach Dave Maloney
Girls Tennis -- Coach Ellen Gunning
Boys Track & Field -- Coach Thayer Redman
Girls Track & Field -- Coach Shelldon Simpson
If you have questions and don't know how to reach the coach, just contact athletic department secretary Lisa Miner at email@example.com.
Wrestling coach (and History teacher) Gerry Navarra wrestled about 45 challengers (who paid $1 each time) during Power Hour on Thursday with proceeds going to the CT Humane Society. If anyone had beaten him they would have won a $15 gift card -- but no one did. We have a video on the district FB page.
