Martin Memo November 3rd

Veterans Day Town Meeting Celebration
A flyer went home with your student. You can send Miss Hrenko an email with the information from the form and the picture you would like to be included in the PowerPoint Presentation instead of filling out the form if you choose. Below is the information about the event. Pictures and information can be sent in about Martin Community veterans that cannot attend as well. We want to celebrate all the veterans of Martin Community past and present. Please take note that the event runs from 2:15-3:15, there was a misprint on the form.

You are invited to the Martin Elementary School
Veterans Day Ceremony!

The celebration will be held on Friday,  November 17th, from 2:15 – 3:15 in the gymnasium.

Students and staff are sponsoring this event to express the importance and value of Manchester’s service in the military.

We wish to invite all veterans and current active members of the armed forces to the ceremony.

Service men and women will be honored during the ceremony. Anyone able to dress in uniform is encouraged to do so.

We also invite parents and community members to attend as our guests.

Patriotism is a value taught in Manchester Public Schools and your attendance would be greatly appreciated!

There will be a PowerPoint presentation to celebrate the veterans of our Martin Community. If you would like to share information fill out the section on the form and return it to school with your child, or email the following information to Miss Hrenko.

Mustang Weekly Spotlight: Library

Greetings Martin Families!

My name is Mary Hrenko, and I am your new Library Media Specialist. Over the past two months, I have been enjoying getting to know each of your students, learning their interests, and helping them find books they would like to read.  I especially have enjoyed reading stories aloud to our K-2 students each week.  In the beginning of the year, I helped organize school-wide International Dot Day activities, including teaching Morse Code to all first through fifth grade students.

Now that our fifth grade students have personal Chromebooks, and our third and fourth grade teams have access to their own Chromebook carts, I will be working with students and their classroom teachers to teach them how to appropriately use Google Education Applications. Being responsible Digital Citizens is a strong value at Martin. I also attended the 2017 Connecticut Google Summit a few weeks ago held at Manchester High School, and I cannot wait to apply what I learned with our students. Expect permission slips to be sent home soon so you can sign off on their use.

Below is a list of library and reading events I’m excited about, I hope you can get excited too!
