After months of work with colleagues and students at Verplanck Elementary Schools, teacher Ronnie Suraci posted a parody video called “Superflexin” on Youtube -- and it was a hit.
Written to showcase the positive impact that the Superflex Social Thinking® curriculum can have on students, it was based on the content and materials included in “Superflex: A Superhero Social Thinking Curriculum” by Stephanie Madrigal and Michelle Garcia Winner, and on the Social Thinking Vocabulary created by Michelle Garcia Winner and included in “Think Social! A Social Thinking Curriculum for School-Age Students.”
The video starts with a scene starring Verplanck Principal Nick Jones and eventually includes dozens of student and staff. The video had more than 2,000 views, but then something even more exciting happed. Here’s Suraci’s explanation:
Over the summer the creators of Superflex/Social Thinking contacted me about the video. They loved it and wanted to promote the video moving forward. In order for this to legally happen (due to copyrights and licenses) I needed to be given creative license to use their content in my song and make a few minor edits to the product. I am pleased to announce that I have legally been given a license and am a partner with the Social Thinking/ Superflex team on this project. They will be promoting the "Superflexin" video from here on out and will be speaking highly of our amazing district. The only downside to this outstanding partnership is that I needed to delete the original video and upload the new version. As a result, all of our views have been deleted. Below is a link to the new video. Watch, Like, and Share so we can get those views back for our kids!
