There are many tools students can use to search for scholarships. One tool MHS students can use to start their search is available through their Naviance accounts. Log into Naviance, click on the "colleges" tab, and follow the links in the "Scholarships and Money" section. For a list of Local Scholarships, click on "Scholarship List", look for "Browse By Category" at the top of the list, and select "Local" from the drop down menu. 

Below is a list of various local scholarships that continue to be available to MHS students (this list is also available in Naviance)

Arthur Goodman Strong Memorial Scholarship: Resident of Manchester for at least 6 months prior to 5/1, a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits 1 or more life activities, plans to begin or continue post-secondary education Deadline 5/1

Associated General Contractors of Connecticut Senior entering a 4 year building technology or civil engineering program or entering a two-year technical school with a construction course of study, with the intent of entering a four-year college upon completion of the technical school. Deadline 3/31

Association of Retired Teachers of Connecticut Glenn Moon Scholarship Fund : A graduating senior who is a resident of Connecticut who intends to pursue a teaching career in public or private schools.Deadline 3/31

Barlett Family Scholarship:  Has been or is participant in Big Brothers Big Sisters, entering college on a full-time basis, financial need, community service. Deadline 3/18

Big Y Scholarship: All Big Y scholarships recognize academic merit and achievement. They are awarded to the most academically outstanding students in the Big Y market area. Deadline 2/1

Catholic Graduates Club Any Catholic, high school senior residing in Hartford County, and planning to attend a four-year college. Selection based on financial need, character, leadership, and achievement. Deadline 3/15

Central CT Celtic Cultural Committee Sons and Daughters: (Applications Available in room 119) CT resident, high school senior or college undergrad of Irish descent, availability for Parade Mass on 3/10/15 and the ST. Patrick's Parade on 3/11/15.  Deadline 12/16

College Club of Hartford: Student must be in top 10% of the class and have performed community service and show A matching award will be made to students who attend St. Joseph College. Deadline 3/19

Connecticut Association for Health Education, Physical Education, Recreation, or Dance: Male or female student graduating from high school who plans to engage in the professional studies of health, physical education, recreation or dance at a 4 year institution in Connecticut.  Deadline 6/15

Connecticut Association of Latinos in Higher EducationLatino students from CT, US citizen, B average, financial need Deadline 5/0 

Connecticut Association of Women Police: Graduating senior, male or female, who will be applying to a criminal justice program. Deadline 4/0

Connecticut Building Congress Scholarship: Graduating Connecticut high school students entering college-level programs in architecture, engineering, construction management, surveying, or other courses leading to a degree in the construction field. Deadline 3/0 

Connecticut Education Foundation Minority Scholarship: Candidate shall be a minority as recognized by the National Foundation for the Improvement of Education (Black; Native-American/Alaskan Native; Asian/Pacific Islander and Hispanic/Latino), be a full time high school student currently enrolled in a public high school in Connecticut, indicate evidence of pursuing interest in teaching as a career in college and confirm his/her intention to enter the teaching profession in CT, a 3.0 cumulative index average on a 4 point scale during high school, leadership roles, community activities, volunteer experience and financial need. Deadline 5/1

Connecticut Nurseryman's Foundation Inc.:  Applicant must be accepted in a course of study beneficial to the horticulture industry. This includes, but is not limited to, Ornamental Horticulture, Landscaping, Nursery Management, and Greenhouse Management CT resident, financial need and academics. Deadline 3/13

Connecticut Park's Association: Open to applicants who are high school graduating seniors planning to attend an accredited four-year college and pursue a career in park management, forestry, horticulture, agronomy, or a closely related field. Selection based on financial need, academic achievement, and involvement in activities related to the intended course of study. Deadline 4/19

Connecticut Sportswriters Alliance: High school senior from Connecticut who is admitted to an accredited four-year college for studies leading to a career in sports journalism. A winner of the scholarship may apply for increased grants for succeeding years of undergraduate study, provided that he/she meets standards of progress set by the Alliance. A student who remains a Kolinsky Scholar for four years may receive grants totaling $10,000 Deadline 2/9

Connecticut Water Works Association: Graduating senior, GPA 3.0, pursuing higher education in environmental science, water resources, public health or the water industry  Deadline 3/1

Cordner Scholarship: (Applications Available in room 119) Graduating MHS senior. Financial need.   Deadline 2/24

DAR Scholarship: (Applications Available in room 119) Any graduating senior, male or female, in the top 25% of the class Deadline 5/1

East Hartford Garden Club: (Applications Available in room 119) Majoring in environmental concerns, horticulture, floriculture, landscape design, conservation, forestry, botany and other allied subjects. Deadline 5/1

Ed & Elanor Coltman Scholarship:  (Applications Available in room 119) The scholarship is designed to assist a deserving Manchester student who has been admitted to MCC for the upcoming fall semester. Deadline 5/6

Family Support Services Scholarship: Student interested in pursuing a career in a profession that provides emotional or medical support to families. This includes such professions as counseling, social services, psychology, psychiatry, nursing, medicine, social, gerontology and funeral service. Deadline 4/15

Hartford County Retired Teachers Association (Applications Available in room 119)  Senior attending a Hartford County high school and planning to pursue a career in teaching. Deadline 3/15

James L. & Genevieve Goodwin Memorial Scholarship CT residents enrolled in a post-secondary curriculum of silviculture or forest resource management Deadline 3/20

John M. Bailey Memorial ScholarshipStudents who are children or grandchildren of someone who has served in the field of criminal justice and planning on majoring in criminal justice or related field. Deadline 5/1

Lou Irvin Scholarship (Applications Available in room 119) Student of color Manchester High School senior with a commitment to further his/her education. Applicant should demonstrate the following characteristics: strong leadership skills, respected by staff and students, academic performance, active involvement in total school and/or community activities Deadline 4/0

Manchester Art Association Graduating senior who is a resident of Connecticut attending MHS, ECHS, or Cheney Tech and planning to further their education in the visual arts.Deadline 4/7

Manchester Garden Club A deserving student furthering their education in Horticulture, Floriculture, Forestry, Landscape Design, Envir. Sci, Botany, Plant Pathology or allied subjects. Deadline 5/13

Manchester High School Scholarship (Applications Available in room 119) A senior or graduate of Manchester High School. Deadline 5/26

Manchester Scholarship Foundation Applicants must be residents of Manchester for 6 months prior to the application deadline and attending a secondary school.

Northeast Family Federal Credit Union  Graduating senior with a 2.5 GPA, enrolled in an accredited college or university and be a member in good standing at Northeast Family Federal Credit Union. Deadline 5/20

Rieg Charitable Foundation  (Applications Available in room 119) 
MHS Senior planning to pursue a degree from an accredited college or university in the fall following graduation. Academic achievement, school activities, community service, and strong work ethic. Manchester resident. Deadline 4/19

Ruth and Skip Arden Scholarships (Applications Available in room 119)  
Seniors who are part of the MCC Career Pathways Program Deadline 6/5

SBM Charitable Foundation Inc. Top 40% of class. US Citizen applying to or attending accredited 2 or 4 yr. college or university in CT Deadline 3/31

The Sigrid Schultz Scholarship for Future Journalists  Must matriculate at CCSU and be majoring in journalism. Must write an essay of no more than 1,000 words addressing the following question: "Journalism has changed dramatically over the past 15 years. How do you see the field changing in the future, and how do you envision your role in it. Deadline 1/16

United Bank Academic Scholarship (Applications Available in room 119)  MHS senior accepted into a college program for business related studies. Academics, active in community and extracurricular activities, financial need. Deadline 3/18

United Bank Vocational Award (Applications Available in room 119) Graduating senior from MHS who will be attending a trade school or vocational training. (i.e. culinary, technical, secretarial, etc.) Deadline 3/18

West Hartford Music & Art Club (Applications Available in room 119) High school senior who has been accepted as a Music Major or Art Major. The award rotates each year. Deadline 5/4
